Scholarships

KCCTO offers scholarships for:

  1. clock-hour training: online or in-person training; statewide conferences
  2. continuing education unit (CEU) training: online or in-person training; statewide conferences
  3. higher education: early childhood education associate’s degrees; early childhood certificates; director’s credentials
  4. Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential training: online or in-person training; community college CDA courses
  5. Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential application fee: the Council for Professional Recognition’s online CDA application fee

Who can apply?

You can apply for a KCCTO scholarship if you:

  • have currently worked in the same licensed Kansas child care program for at least the last 6 months,
  • are a Kansas resident, and
  • are a DCF Child Care Assistance provider

However, you do not need to be a DCF Child Care Assistance provider to apply for a CDA Credential application fee scholarship.

What are the criteria for eligible training or courses?

SCHOLARSHIP TYPETRAINING/COURSE MUST BE:KCCTO WILL:


Clock Hour Training-KDHE approvedOnline Training:
-Pay registration costs of courses up to 10 clock hours ($150 maximum)

In-Person Training or Statewide Conference:
-Support the cost of training registration
Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Training-CEU approved-‎Pay training registration costs and CEU fees

Higher Education-‏‏‎‎From an accredited Kansas community college
-An early childhood education course included in the program of study for an Early Childhood Education major, Director’s Credential, or Early Childhood Certificate
‏‏‎ ‎
-Reimburse 80% of the cost of up to 3 credit hours per semester, pending receipt of verification of completion
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential Training‏‏Online or In-Person Training:
-KDHE approved
-Applicable to the Candidate’s CDA setting 

Community College or Vo-Tech CDA Courses:
-From an accredited Kansas community college or vo-tech
-An early childhood education course included in the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential program of study
-Applicable to the Candidate’s CDA setting

Online or In-Person Training:
-Pay registration costs for up to 120 clock hours of training (maximum of $400) 

Community College or Vo-Tech CDA Courses:
-Reimburse 80% of the cost of up to 9 credit hours (limited to 6 credit hours per semester), pending receipt of verification of completion of each course
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential Application Fee ‏‏‎‎-Pay the $425 application fee to the Council for Professional Recognition on behalf of the CDA Candidate
