Early Childhood Professional Development Scholarships

KCCTO offers scholarships to help early childhood providers continue to grow their career and expertise. Please view the drop-down menus below for each of our scholarship details, how to apply and the policies and procedures. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

In-Service Training Scholarship

Any Kansas provider currently working in a licensed child care facility is eligible to apply for the In-Service Training Progression of Professional Development Scholarship. This scholarship can be used for early childhood online or in-person training for personal or professional growth opportunities, annual licensure requirements, or CDA professional education requirements.

Scholarship Details

Type of Professional Development

In-Service training types:

  • Online Training
  • In-Person Training

Training must be:

  • Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) approved, OR
  • Offered by an agency with authority to offer CEUs and content approved for CEUs

Scholarship Applicant must:

  • Be currently employed at a licensed child care facility in Kansas
  • Complete training registration and provide verification to KCCTO
  • Complete training
  • Provide verification of training completion to KCCTO

KCCTO will:

  • Pay online or in-person registration costs of courses up to a maximum per person $200 per year (July – June)
  • Maximum per facility $750 per year (July – June)
  • Pay registration costs for up to 120 clock hours of training (maximum of $400) for CDA training programs

Applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the training event or registration closing if requesting a pay-in-advance scholarship. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Please allow 10 business days for processing.

Higher Education Scholarship

Any Kansas provider currently working in a licensed child care facility is eligible to apply for the Higher Education Progression of Professional Development Scholarship. This scholarship can be used for early childhood courses at accredited institutions of higher education in Kansas.

Scholarship Details

Type of Professional Development

Early Childhood College Courses for:

  • Continuing Education
  • CDA Preparatory Courses
  • Early Childhood Certificate
  • Associate Decree (A.A., A.S., A.A.S.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A, B.S.)

Course must be:

  • From an accredited institute of higher education in Kansas
  • An early childhood education course
  • No more than 6 credit hours per semester

Scholarship Applicant must:

  • Be currently employed at a licensed child care facility in Kansas
  • Be currently employed in a qualifying licensed exempt facility, e.g., USD
  • Use any other available financial aid (including the KS Promise Scholarship) prior to applying for this scholarship
  • Complete course enrollment
  • Complete course with a “C” grade or higher
  • Provide Verification of course completion to KCCTO

KCCTO will:

  • Pay 100% of the cost of the tuition of up to 6 credit hours per semester, pending verification of use of any other available financial aid

State and National Conference Training Progression of Professional Development Scholarship

This scholarship can be used for early childhood online or face-to-face statewide or national conferences for personal or professional growth opportunities, annual licensure requirements, or CDA professional education requirements.

Scholarship Details

Statewide Conference:

Training must be:

  • Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) approved, OR
  • Offered by an agency with Authority to offer CEUs and content approved for CEUs

Applicant Must:

  • Currently be employed at a licensed child care facility in Kansas
  • Complete training registration and provide verification to KCCTO
  • Complete training
  • Provide verification of training completion to KCCTO

KCCTO Will:

  • Pay State conference attendance costs of up to maximum per person $400 (including registration, membership if applicable, CEU fees, travel, and lodging) per year (July – June)
  • Maximum per facility $4,000 per year (July – June)

National Conference

Training must be:

  • Offered by an agency with authority to offer CEUs and content approved for CEUs

Applicant must:

  • Be currently employed at a licensed child care facility in Kansas
  • Complete training registration and provide verification to KCCTO
  • Complete training
  • Provide verification of training completion to KCCTO

KCCTO will:

  • Pay attendance costs of up to $1800 per person/calendar year (including registration, membership fees, CEU fees, travel, and lodging)
  • Maximum per facility $3600 per year (July-June)

Endorsements and Credentials Scholarship

Any Kansas provider currently working in a licensed child care facility is eligible to apply for the Pediatric First Aid and CPR Professional Development Scholarship.

Endorsements and Credentials of Professional Development Scholarships are eligible to Kansas providers working in a licensed child care facility and meeting the requirements of the endorsement or credential type.

Scholarship Details

Pediatric First Aid and CPR

Endorsement/Credential Criteria:

  • Training must be accepted by KDHE Child Care Licensing

Applicant Must:

  • Currently be employed at a licensed child care facility in Kansas

KCCTO Will:

  • Pay Certification Fee up to $85

KS Director’s Credential

Criteria:

  • Training must be issued by the Kansas Association for the Education of Young Children (KSAEYC)

Applicant must:

KCCTO will:

  • Pay $100 Credential Application Fee
  • Pay $30 Membership to state approved professional association
  • Pay for College Coursework in Leadership and Mangement (maximum of $1300 for up to 9 credit hours)

Endorsements

Other ECE endorsements and credentials will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Support Service Provider Scholarship

A professional working in the Kansas ECCE workforce whose work directly supports licensed child care professionals and programs is eligible to apply for the Support Service Provider Scholarship. This scholarship can be used for early childhood online or in-person training or statewide or national conferences for professional growth opportunities.

Scholarship Details

In-Service Trainings:

Online or In-Person Training

Training must:

  • Indicate evidence based or best practice foundation of content
  • Pediatric first aid/CPR instructor certification
  • Training of trainers
  • Examples:
    • Better Brains for Babies
    • Strengthening Business Practices
    • FLIP IT
    • ASQ

Applicant Must:

  • Professionals working in the Kansas ECCE workforce who directly support licensed child care professionals and programs
  • Complete training registration
  • Complete training
  • Provide verification of training completion to KCCTO

KCCTO Will:

  • Pay for Pediatric first aid/CPR instructor certification: Application fees and materials
  • Pay for Training of trainers: Attendance costs including registration, materials, curriculum

In-State or National Conference

Training must:

  • Indicate evidence based or best practice foundation of content

Scholarship applicant must:

  • Professionals working in the Kansas ECCE workforce who directly support licensed child care professionals and programs
  • Complete training registration
  • Complete training
  • Provide verification of training completion to KCCTO

KCCTO will:

Facility Accreditation

The Facility Accreditation scholarship is available for child care programs licensed by the Department of KS Health and Environment.

Scholarship Details

Facility Accreditations

Types Include:

  • NAFCC, NAEYC and other ECE accreditations

Applicant Must:

  • Facility must be a licensed child care program in Kansas
  • Complete training registration
  • Complete training
  • Participant in cohort monthly virtual peer community calls (NAFCC)
  • Provide verification of training completion to KCCTO

KCCTO Will:

  • Pay registration costs of accreditation courses up to a max per facility.
    • NAFCC – $945
    • NAEYC – $2,182 (average)
    • Other eligible fees
