Take A Seat, It’s Time to Eat

Description

Feeding children while in care can be one of the biggest responsibilities that a provider faces each day. Whether you use plated, family style meal service, or a combination of both creating a healthy mealtime environment is important for a child’s development. Mealtimes are so much more than just food. It’s an opportunity to create a strong bond with the children as well as work on different learning domains such as fine motor skills, communication and literacy, math, and physical health and development. As the caregiver, you are responsible for offering healthy meals and snacks to the kids, while the children are responsible for deciding whether or not they’re going to eat, which of those foods they’re going to eat, and how much of those healthy foods they would like to eat. Through this course we are going to look at the benefits and challenges of family style and plated meal services as well as identify strategies to create a healthy mealtime experience for the infants and toddlers in your care. ?

This course is appropriate for people who work with infants and toddlers in center-based and family child care settings.
