The FUNdamentals – Course Description

Research shows that children’s social and emotional development is fundamentally linked to the growth of language and early literacy. In this hands-on, interactive workshop, participants will discover how play-based experiences are key to fostering these school readiness skills.

Participants will explore creative ways to develop engaging and purposeful play-based environments, interactions, and activities with language and literacy objectives in mind.

In this training early childhood providers will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of how play benefits emotional development as a pathway to language and early literacy
  • Acquire strategies for creating play-based environments, interactions, and activities that support language, emergent literacy and fosters social-emotional learning
  • Create a play-based lesson plan targeting language and literacy objectives
