Course Description

This course provides information and guidance in understanding infectious disease and how to implement infection controls to manage the spread of illness including the importance of immunizations, understanding and implementing appropriate hand hygiene, and limiting the spread of microorganisms through appropriate diapering and toileting procedures..  When does a child need to be excluded due to illness?  This and other regulations and best practice standards, including immunizations are addressed following KDHE child care licensing regulations, Caring for Our Children best practice standards.  This course is adapted, with permission, from the American Academy of Pediatrics Preventing and Managing Infectious Disease in Early Education and Child Care course.

This course meets KDHE health and safety training requirements for prevention and control of infectious diseases, found in K.A.R. 28-4-428a. (b)(2)(D).  Meets 3 of the 4 hours of the Annual Health and Safety Topic Requirement.
