Course Description

There are practices that can help reduce the chances of spreading disease and illness in early education and child care settings.  This course focuses on the basics of implementing Standard Precautions when there is the potential of blood borne pathogens; how to dispose and handle bio contaminant episodes; and ways to store and handle hazardous materials.  Parts of this course are adapted, with permission, from Fight BAC! ® Goes to Childcare.  The course also includes information about KDHE licensing regulations and best practice standards from Caring for Our Children, 3rd Ed.

This course meets KDHE health and safety training requirements for handling and storage of hazardous materials and the appropriate disposal of bio-contaminants, including blood and other bodily fluids or waste, found in K.A.R. 28-4-428a. (b)(2)(H).  Meets 1 of the 4 hours of the Annual Health and Safety Topic Requirement.
